05 JUNE 2015/SHANGHAI, CHINA – British life insurer Pru Life UK was presented with two Silver Stevie® Awards for its post-Yolanda (international name: Haiyan) relief and recovery efforts as well as its groundbreaking disaster preparedness and awareness campaign at the 2015 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards.

The Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards are the only business awards program to recognize achievement in the workplace in all 22 nations of the Asia-Pacific region. The Stevie Awards are widely considered to be the world's premier business awards, conferring recognition for achievement in programs such as The International Business Awards for more than a decade.

The Regional PRUVolunteer Programme 2014 and Safe Steps were both honored with Silver Stevies in the Communications/PR – Campaign: Maketing – Public Service category.

The Regional PRUVolunteer Programme 2014 is a post-Yolanda relief and recovery initiative by Pru Life UK regional headquarters Prudential Corporation Asia’s unified charitable arm Prudence Foundation. The Programme brought together over 200 employee- and agent-volunteers from 12 countries across Asia and the United Kingdom to help build 135 disaster-resilient homes and support sustainable livelihood through a donation of 183 motorized boats with fishing nets and 140 pedicabs or cycle rickshaws in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island, Cebu.

Safe Steps is a multi-platform pan-Asian disaster preparedness programme developed by Prudence Foundation and National Geographic Channel featuring boxing icon and humanitarian Manny Pacquiao as its Ambassador. It initially focuses on survival steps for the most common disaster situations in Asia – typhoons, earthquakes, floods and fire, as well as tips on how to prepare a life-saving emergency kit. In the Philippines, the government through the Office of Civil Defense and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has adopted Safe Steps for integration in its disaster preparedness initiatives. It will be rolled out in all 1,715 local government units nationwide.

More than 400 nominations from organizations across the Asia-Pacific region were considered in this year’s edition of the Awards.

Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 50 executives around the world who participated in first-round judging in March and April. The awards banquet was held at the Intercontinental Shanghai Pudong Hotel.
