Pru Life UK Mobilizes Employee-Volunteers for Brigada Eskwela 2016

For the fifth consecutive year, British life insurer Pru Life UK once again engaged its employees in half-day volunteer activities for four days at Upper Bicutan Elementary School during the 2016 leg of Brigada Eskwela. Employee-volunteers were mobilized to participate in the actual cleaning and painting of classrooms, helping prepare the school campus for the upcoming academic year.

Also known as the National School Maintenance Week held annually by the Department of Education, Brigada Eskwela encourages the involvement and collaboration of public schools, local government units, parents, students, and private organizations in the annual clean-up and repair of educational facilities in preparation for the start of classes each school year.

This 2016, Pru Life UK showed its support by donating repair items and cleaning supplies to four public schools –  Indahag National High School in Misamis Oriental, Santa Fe Central School in Bantayan Island, Tagaytay City Central School in Tagaytay City, and Upper Bicutan Elementary School in Taguig City. Part of the support extended by Pru Life UK during Brigada Eskwela was the deployment of employees to Upper Bicutan Elementary School to provide on-site volunteer service.

The active involvement of Pru Life UK employees in the school beautification efforts is born from the Company’s initiative to promote the spirit of volunteerism within the organization through its employee-volunteer program, Pru It Forward, which seeks to increase the awareness and participation of employees in causes that center on children, education, and disaster preparedness and recovery.

The continuous involvement of Pru Life UK in the National School Maintenance Week coincides with Pru Life UK’s 20th anniversary in the Philippines. In 1996, the Insurance Commission granted the British subsidiary the license to operate and sell life insurance in the country. Since then, Pru Life UK has expanded its reach to over 80 branches in the Philippines, with the biggest life agency force at 14,000 licensed agents, and has emerged as one of the top five life insurers.
