For the seventh consecutive year, British life insurer Pru Life UK welcomed the academic year by participating in the 2018 leg of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Brigada Eskwela. More than 50 employees were mobilized for the week-long volunteer program to help repaint the school premises of Upper Bicutan Elementary School.
Also known as the National School Maintenance Week held annually by the DepEd, Brigada Eskwela encourages the involvement and collaboration of public schools, local government units, parents, students, and private organizations in the annual clean-up and repair of educational facilities in preparation for the start of classes each school year.
Aside from on-site volunteer service provided at Upper Bicutan Elementary School – Pru Life UK’s pioneer partner for Cha-Ching Financial Literacy for Youth Program since 2012 – the Company also donated cleaning materials to incoming Cha-Ching partner schools in Puerto Princesa, Palawan: Sicsican Elementary School, Sta. Monica Elementary School, and Puerto Princesa Pilot Elementary School. The turnover ceremonies were headed by Dr. Elsie Barrios, DepEd Schools Division Superintendent of Puerto Princesa City.
The continuous participation of Pru Life UK employees in Brigada Eskwela is in line with the Company’s initiative to promote volunteerism within the organization through its employee-volunteer program, Pru It Forward. This seeks to increase the awareness and engagement of employees in causes that center on children, education, and disaster preparedness and recovery.
