Before kicking off PRURide PH 2019, the biggest cycling festival in the country, British life insurance company Pru Life UK launched a new competition to get everyone excited. Called Virtual Race, it will have over 300 contenders participate in preliminaries from February to May for a chance to win the ultimate prize: a carbon fiber road bike worth PhP 150,000.

But what is Virtual Race? Using state-of-the-art technology, it simulates the popular British F1 Silverstone circuit track, allowing participants to experience the thrill of a 5-kilometer pro race and gain official time records without going out on the road.

Cyclists can try out the Virtual Race at the 2nd floor Expansion Wing of the Festival Mall in Alabang on March 29-31. It will then head to Harbor Point Mall in Subic on May 3-5 and May 17-19. Ten virtual cyclists with the best time records from all qualifying rounds will proceed to the grand finals in Subic on May 25, with a chance to win the premium bike.

Aside from the simulation, PRURide PH 2019 will host the UCI 2.2-accredited Stage Races for the strongest professional cyclists across Asia. Other activities are also offered for non-professional cycling enthusiasts, such as the circuit Criterium races in Alabang on April 7, as well as the competitive Masters Race and non-competitive fun ride Gran Fondo in 30, 60 and 100 kilometers in Subic on May 26.

Moreover, the whole family and barkada can enjoy fun activities for free, such as Zumba sessions, an inflatable playground, massage and health check stations, face paint booths, and special performances from Rivermaya in Alabang and Callalily in Subic, with Gracenote as both bands’ front act.

What’s more, premium freebies such as PRURide PH 2019 jersey, limited edition Rudy Project sling bag, finisher’s medal, and cash prizes worth more than PhP 2 million await all participants.
